Back to Work

This week I started working at Wawa. It has been such a blast. I didn't know if I would ever be physically able to work a job on my feet all day. I surprised myself with how much I could do and how good I felt. I was so worried my body would give up on me or do something to cause me to go to the hospital. But it didn't.

I made it through 8 hours completely fine. Let's be real, my feet felt like I was walking on glass, but other than that I was actually ok. Finally being able to do things to make myself more independent and to help my family means so much to me. Finally getting this job means I can finally pay for more things myself (and spoil my family like they have spoiled me for so long). I'm so lucky to be given this opportunity and that they were so understanding and kind about the fact that I'm still in treatment.

Every day I physically do something that surprises me, something I couldn't do a month or so ago. It's a great lesson to keep fighting and to never let yourself give up. To push yourself until you are where you want to be. I refused to accept that I was always going to struggle up a flight of stairs, or have trouble walking, and getting up and down. Not anymore. I'm so excited to see how much more I can do the more my body gets used to working.
