Birthday

10 months ago, even just last month, my life hung in the balance and no doctor could assure me that I would live to see my 18th birthday. No one could positively tell me I’d even see the next day. I would never have thought of a birthday as an accomplishment. I made it. I had the worst thrown at me and I powered through it to my birthday...

"Live the life you want to live and be happy, we never know how many birthdays we are going to make it to."

Looking back on the last 10 months of my life it’s crazy to see how much I’ve changed. I went from a typical 17 year old; succeeded in school, hung out with friends, I thought nothing could ever hurt me, I was invincible. Now I’m an 18 year old who writes blogs for an outstanding foundation, sells makeup online, and have a completely different outlook on life.

Things I would stress over and get worked up over I’ve realized just aren’t worth it. Staying up until 2 am to study for a test you’ve been studying over a week for and stressing over is not going to make or break your grade on that test, the lack of sleep may actually hurt your grade. What matters in life is what you make of it, your happiness is what you should strive for. What good is a finance degree that you worked your butt off for if you aren’t happy with a job in that field? You need to be happy in your life and in all of the things you do. Life is too short to not enjoy it. You never know when your last day is, so make the best of today.

If you received 86,400 dollars but had to give someone you disliked 10 dollars; would you refuse the money because of that 10 dollars or just take the 86,390 and be happy? So why let something ruin your 86,400 seconds in a day with their 10 seconds of negativity? Live the life you want to live and be happy, we never know how many birthdays we are going to make it to.
