What is a Teen Lounge?
The Alicia Rose “Victorious” Foundation furnishes “Teen Lounges” in pediatric hospitals. Too often the teenage patient seems forgotten because most rooms at pediatric hospitals are geared toward the younger children.
A Teen Lounge is a special room just for teens with life threatening illnesses to use during their hospital stays. It is all about enhancing the quality of life for teens with cancer during the many visits and stays at the hospital. It is a room to:
- Hang out with other kids on funky, modular furniture,
- Watch a movie on a state-of-the-art Plasma TV,
- Listen to music,
- Choose a movie from the 100 + DVD/ CD player that has the latest teen movies and songs pre-loaded,
- Play interactive arcade games using video arcade system, that are accessible by wheelchairs,
- Chat on PC's using instant messaging service and Internet access,
- Take pictures on the web cam and print out color photos of their friends, or
- Enjoy special weekly events, e.g., Friday Movie Night.
